Many Things
Our bike ride and lunch adventure with Marissa and Chase was great. We hopped on our bikes on a quest to find a lunch spot about an hour north. We rode past Hossegor and Seignosse through a forest filled with ferns and cicadas. Those cicadas were the loudest I have ever heard! After an hour, we stopped at Plage des Casernes. We parked our bikes and walked up a hill to see a beach that went on forever in both directions, a surf school, and there was a little beach shack that was a restaurant! The food they offered included Jambon sandwiches, fish and chips, chipirones, pulpo a la plancha – not what one would find at a beach in the states. Of course, there was wine and beer too. After lunch, we hopped back on our bikes and returned home.
This afternoon was THE day – the long-awaited moment to pick up our new car! Woohoo! It's the nicest ride either of us has ever had – fancy, fancy! This car can park itself and is packed with all kinds of high-tech options! I was so nervous during the first self parking try, but it glided into the spot effortlessly all by itself. Mind blown! Thankfully, we have the entire month of August while on our road trip from here to Belgium and back to become experts. We wrapped up the day with dinner at Monsieur Mouette (with Marissa, Chase and Marissa’s neice, Izzy), a bustling spot right by the port. The place is always jam-packed, and the hip music fills the harbor with good vibes nightly! After dinner, we went to the Boulevard François Mitterrand (promenade on the beach) and played petanque.
