Paris
Charlie, “If Seve lived here, I would live here forever.”
August in Paris - closed for summer! In spite of that, things were open here and there. We had an amazing dinner at Seb’on. One chef, 20 seats, one server. French cuisine, super sophisticated. What a treat! Merci Chef. The Marché des Enfants Rouges, the oldest covered market in Paris. Our fav, Les Enfants du Marche, was the goal. A 3.7 km walk (45-minutes), and we arrive all pumped up... only to find the place in cleaning mode. Why? They're packing up for their own holiday escapade starting tomorrow. Dommage, right? We ended up at a place on the flip side of the market. Not exactly the plan, but all good. We will have to enjoy that spot with Brittany and Luna another time.
We covered over 20 miles the last two days on foot, taking in the city's vibes. A real shift - not the typical "tourist" agenda. No Louvre rush or Arc du Triumph mission. Instead, we're free-flowing, exploring without the frenzy of sightseeing or constant photos. Oddly refreshing - no snapshots of classic metro signs or architecture. Just strolling, taking in the people and the everyday hustle of Paris. Knowing we can come back —- Paris is only a 3 hour train ride away! That being said, we had a good time with Brittany and Luna. Walked up to Sacré-Cœur for a panoramic Paris view, then La Marais for some shopping, a little Berthillon glacé on the Île Saint-Louis, lunch in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Good food, great company - just enjoying the time together.
Now to Malmedy, Belgium. The journey continues.
