10 Days to Go
The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of activity as we've been diligently preparing for our departure for France. Our main focus has been packing up the entire house, which has proven to be quite an undertaking. Once we removed all the items from the walls, it became painfully obvious that there were numerous holes, marks, and areas where the paint desperately needed a refresh. We decided to enlist the help of professional painters to tackle this task, and I'm relieved to say that they just finished their work today. It's amazing how a fresh coat of paint can transform a space. We opted for Chantilly white throughout the house, which gives it a clean and crisp look. Although it may appear a bit too white at first, I'm sure once the Nolans settle in and add their personal touch, it will feel just right. In addition to the painting, we also made some other improvements to the house. One of the things we wanted to address was the mix and match of different outlets. We wanted everything to be uniform and up to code, so we asked Chuck, our electrician, to come and replace all the outlets with GFIs and make them all white. It's the little details like these that can make a big difference in the overall improvement of our funky home. With all the packing, sorting, and organizing, our house has become a maze of boxes and piles. It can feel overwhelming at times, but we're determined to power through and get everything done. We've been diligently going from one room to the next, carefully deciding what to keep, what to donate to Goodwill, and what goes into the "dump room" pile. It's a process that requires both physical and emotional energy, but we know that once we're finished, it will be well worth the effort.
As we navigate through this chaotic period, it's important to remind ourselves to take things one step at a time. By focusing on the tasks at hand and maintaining a positive mindset, we will eventually reach the light at the end of the tunnel. Our journey to a new chapter awaits, and soon enough, we'll be able to look back on these busy days with a sense of accomplishment and the excitement of what lies ahead. Only 10 more days until our departure for France! The countdown is on, and the anticipation is building. Amidst the packing and organizing, we can't help but feel a mix of excitement and a touch of nostalgia. We've poured so much energy into preparing for this move, and now the moment of departure is almost within reach. Soon, we'll be embarking on a new chapter, immersing ourselves in the beauty, culture, and charm of France. While there may be a tinge of bittersweetness in leaving behind familiar surroundings, we're eager to embrace the unknown and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. The journey to France is not just about relocating; it's about immersing ourselves in a new culture, forming new friendships, and creating unforgettable memories that will stay with us for a lifetime.
So, as we count down the days, let's savor the anticipation, relish in the final preparations, and embrace the unknown with open hearts. France, here we come!
